Exploring the Global Dimension to Science

11-14 14-16 Leaflet PDF Free

Description:

This leaflet is from 'Exploring Together', a pack of 14 leaflets, one for each subject in the secondary curriculum in England. The leaflets provide starting points for exploring what the global dimension means for each subject, and can also be used for cross-curriculum planning.

The leaflet starts by outlining the aims of the curriculum (ie: to develop successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens) and has excerpts from the the importance statement, key concepts and key processes for Science. The eight key concepts of the global dimension are then listed - Global Citizenship, Interdependence, Social Justice, Human Rights, Conflict Resolution, Diversity, Sustainable Development and Values & Perceptions - showing how they each relate to Science. These are followed by a useful set of examples of classroom activities showing ways in which students can explore the global dimension to Science.
